About Me
Hi—I’m Sarah, a humanist, lifelong learner, and slightly quirky lover of the arts, music, and all things nature. I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker, therapist, and community wellness professional based in Akron, Ohio. In addition to my clinical practice, I've spent years developing creative, community-based wellness programming and collaborating with local artists, organizations, and health professionals. I also serve as Chair of the Northeast Ohio Healing Arts Alliance, where I advocate for the integration of arts, health, and community connection.
In my private practice, Swirsky Healing Arts, I offer compassionate, individualized counseling for adults, along with Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and other creative wellness services. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with expressive arts, mindfulness, music, and gentle movement. I believe mental health care should feel human, collaborative, and accessible—a space where curiosity, authenticity, and even laughter are welcome. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Akron, grounding my work in a systems-based, whole-person perspective. I recognize that well-being is shaped not only by our thoughts and emotions, but also by our physical health, relationships, environments, and communities. This perspective informs both my clinical work and my passion for advocacy, resource navigation, and creative approaches to wellness.
Outside of work, you'll often find me gardening, exploring nature, or finding inspiration in music, photography, and the arts (and occasionally binge-watching fantasy series and British murder mysteries). I'm endlessly curious about the connections between creativity, nature, and the human experience. Whether working with individuals or collaborating in the community, my goal is to help create opportunities for greater connection, self-understanding, and healing.
